Glossary of Terms:

Acid--a substance that has a pH of less than 7, which is neutral.

Alkalinity--the capacity of water for neutralizing an acid solution.

CAFO--Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, where waste products are often dumped into local waterways

Desalinization--the removal of salts from saline water to provide freshwater.

Levee--a natural or manmade earthen barrier along the edge of a stream, lake, or river.

Watershed--the region draining into a river, river system, or other body of water.
